Rachel would go weeks or up to four months straight without seeing her mother, or any other adult in the house. Rachel often had to clean, cook, and pay for her phone bill, her clothes, food, and getting her hair done. Her mother would come home every once in a while but most of the time when Rachel was 14-15 years old she had the house to herself and her mother allowed her to bring anyone she wanted into the house. Rachel eventually started working two jobs to help her mother pay bills.


At 16 Rachel was saving up money to move out. She also got a new car for her 15th birthday. When Rachel was 18, she got pregnant by a 27 year old man, graduated high school, moved out her mothers house. She gave birth to a baby boy named Nelson and got a job as a dental assistant making 20 dollars an hour. She got married at 22.
