Search Results: asking classmate out

I’m going to a new school this year & I’m a sophomore. Well see, there’s this guy. Same grade, same age. He’s one of the guys in my group of friends & we hang out quite a bit. Over Winter Break, I called him to wish him Merry Christmas, & we’ve talked a few other times on the phone randomly. We talk on MSN some. During our Winter Break, whenever I’d sign on he’d IM me right away & say hello to me.

My group of friends is too large to fit at one lunch table so we sit at two tables right next to each other. At first I was just sitting with one girl in the group, but a few people began sitting with us too. One day the guy that I like asked why I always sat at the other table instead of the one he was at & I said that it was because there never seemed to be enough room. After that he began sitting at my table. Sometimes he’d come after he was done eating or he’d switch back & forth between tables. Well now he always sits next to me. If anyone goes & sits next to me while he’s up or before he sits down, he makes them move (I sit next to the wall) Recently one of the girls I’m friends with scooted next to me when he’d gotten up & when he came back he’d tried to get her to move but she wouldn’t so he finally let her stay. Somewhere in there she said that she wanted some ‘Amanda Time’ & that she loved me & I heard him say, “I loved Amanda first!”

I’m not sure how to take that. He might just be kidding or just meaning it in a friendly way.

We’ve hugged two times. He likes to stare at me also. He knows that it really bugs me & I don’t like being stared at so he does it just to annoy me.

We were sitting at lunch one day & he goes to me, “Amanda, will you marry me?” He said it with a joking tone so I just laughed. He did this a couple of times that lunch & finally when we had to go, he was telling someone about how I’d laughed at him & they said he just hadn’t done it right. Then he came over to me & got down on his knee & proceeded to ask me again which I then freaked & ran. We joked about it & he continued asking me, even one day as we were leaving a class & all of our classmates were around us, he very loudly asked me again & I got really embarrassed & never gave him an answer. He continued asking at random times in which I finally said yes. After that he quit asking for a while but he did just the other day & I said yes again. I’m not sure how to take it because I’m sure he’s not serious & he seems completely kidding, but. Is he doing it to try & ‘test’ me & see what my reaction would be if he was to ask me out?

The other night we were talking on IM & we’d stopped talking for a while. Then he IM’d with the following, which was off topic & not at all related to what we’d been talking about:

“Him: That’s what I think

Me: Think what?

Him: I think that your

Dammit this sounded better in my head

Oh I got a joke”

& I just went along with it & asked what the joke was. Was he possibly going to say something, but chickened out?

I’d really appreciate some input.
