I am acquaintance with this guy for about 9 months. We are very different background-wise. I mean, VERY, in the sense that under normal situations, he probably won't expect us to become friends at all. When we see each other (about once a week) we talk but we have no outside contacts. The topics we talked about were also very causal - mostly about the job. We started to talk more and joke around but nothing really personal. Until recently (this month), he talked to me about a personal problem (which I know he also told a few other people). I sent a short text to him a few days later to make sure he's fine and that's when it really touched him as he said I was the only one (outside his inner circle) who actually cared enough to check in with him. We have been having causal body contacts, like patting on the arms or shoulders. We got "closer" since then that he would hug me, he leans closer when we talk, and the physical contacts increase (nothing inappropriate though). My gut is saying that those are the more-than-just-wanna-be-friends kind of contacts. It might just be all in my head but I feel that he's not the type of guys who would take advantages from touching girls like that because otherwise he would have done so earlier.

After a while, he asked me personal questions like if I had a boyfriend, why I don't have someone in my life, and if I want to have someone etc. Then he asked if we could be friends and keep in touch? I told him yes and he said he meant long-term. I said yes because I think he would make a good friend even if we don't turn out to be anything. I was so occupied with his other questions that he asked before and later on I started to feel confused when I thought back because people don't normally expect to make a "short-term" friend, right? So I don't quite know what's going on anymore. Any thoughts?
