This one is for the guys, I will have the same question with the exception of women being used instead of men in the title after I'm done writing this question for women to answer. (with a slightly different theme).

According to a recent government survey around 55,000 Americans marry someone from a foreign country every year. Of that number 10,000 are men that meet women through an international introductions service. These are basically matchmakers in the traditional sense of the word or like match.com with the exception that they work exclusively with women from outside your country vs. women in your area. One of the measured benefits of marrying someone from another country is the divorce rate of "only" 20% in comparison to the 50+% with American/local women.

My question for the guys is have you considered making use of these services to find your life partner? Why or why not? Are you afraid of ridicule from others, don't know enough about it, etc.? What kind of information would you need to know to consider making use of these services?

I have personally seen this happen to American women before, more than once. Some older, uglier older foreign man actually offer to pay a woman a LOT of money in exchange for marriage so that he can become a US citizen. He even allowed the woman to divorce him the moment he gains the proper paperwork as a citizen. The amount offered was quite considerable, even for today's economic standards. These were not internet scammers, but were men who were attending college here in the USA or were in some business with the Government who knew the ladies they proposed to. For argument's sake, lets say the amount is $100,000USD, the price is set without negotiation.

What would you do? Would you take the money and run after a polite thank you? What would prevent you from doing this? If a foreign woman offered such a request to me, I would seriously consider it, even keep her if I really like her!
