We've all struggled with this social stigma and I bet this question as come up yet and yet again.

At the end of a date, or if you're just hanging out at a café or social place, whatever. Who ends picking up the tab at that point?

I have to start by saying that I'm one of those people that relate to old social ques. So to me personally it feels sort of natural to pick up the tab, because that's the social standard.

But for the past few years I've really tried to rationalize towards the answer to the question, why does the man have to pay? I came to the conclusion that the reasons could be many and started looking at the implications themselves.

Let's start by saying we all pretty much can agree on one thing. It's a generally common factor that your subconscious mind will override whatever decision you can consciously rationalize to. Let's also point out that even though you think you've made a conscious decision it might not be how you really feel. Factor into that, your "will" isn't some magical ass feature that's uniquely fitted into the people around you. It is a bi product of what your subconscious mind is telling you and your motivations are most likely the same. Lastly, a lot of information can get lost because your subconscious mind is likely picking up a lot of patterns that are trying to tell you what is "really" going on, processing this in the fastest known way possible for it.

Now that we got that sh*t out of the way!

Let's imagine you (I'll be bisexual for the purpose of this topic or whatever perverted fantasy you may have) and I are on a date of sorts. We met just outside the other day and for whatever reason we both liked each other.

If I pick up the tab... our general conclusion now that we can make hypotheticals because it's not really happening is what? Exactly. I'm the gentleman, the amazingly nice person (just pretend you were thinking the same even if you didn't!), or maybe you're a gold digger and I just turned into a tastier snack?

But let's really think about it... what did you feel when you were sitting there and I just paid for your sh*t. Remember that we just met...

I'll give you another example. Let's say we just met again anew, we've never met each other before. We're now at some sort of lounge, I keep ordering you drinks, paying for your stuff. The next time we meet, same thing happens. What conclusion can we derive from this? That's right, I've just turned into your little bitch. Sure you might have been trying to play the nice card, telling yourself that I'm just being nice but remember, your subconscious mind is stronger, as are the impulses that result.

Think of the misinterpretation! It's crazy, I know.

So now that we broke all of this sh*t down we came upon a different outlook. Honestly after thinking about all of that, the thought that some person thinks I have to pay for them to hang out with me as a perverse and f***ed up idea.
