Under what conditions, if any, would you suggest are best to get back with an ex?

When should you totally 100% NOT get back with them?

My situation:

It was a long distance, we were friends and dated for 6 months. I study out of state, so I see him whenever I go home.

He claims that when we did finally see each other, we did mostly physical things; which I was okay with because we can do nothing but talk and tease while I'm away. Of f***ing course I'm going to jump him when I get to see him for 2 days after 2 months. This was one of the reasons why we broke up

The other reason was that he felt I was too good for him :/ He said it was "too good to be true." And then what made me break up with him was that he said he didn't like me as much as I liked him, and he didn't know why. Basically said that I was everything he's asked for, but he doesn't know why he can't feel the same.

We're still friends. .only he texts me all the time telling me he misses me and thinks I'm gorgeous or whatever. I keep reminding him to stop, and he does- he just forgets. He's desperate for me, so desperate he told me he was one day thinking about eating me out again (which is something I love, and he clearly hates doing).

These are all the negatives of our relationship, but there were plenty of positives. It was a light hearted relationship, we (mostly I, apparently) were always honest and straight forward, he bought a 500 dollar ticket to see me when he heard I wasn't coming home for thanksgiving, my friends and family loved him, he's a good guy, etc.

I do still have feelings for him, it wasn't over for me. But I'm not sure if I should move on or not... I can see that he's changed quite a bit, but I'm not sure.

So under what conditions do you think its okay to get back with an ex?
