If so, what happened? What's the best way to handle the situation?

QA's rarely, if ever, block me to get the last word, but occasionally I come across someone who's too sensitive for their own good, incredibly defensive, and can't seem to figure out how to proceed with the conversation without encouraging a dramatic tone. I'm very honest with people here because I don't believe in pacifying someone or enabling unfavorable behavior. While I try to be respectful, some people simply cannot handle pure honesty no matter how decent the delivery is. Should GAG do something about this?

Looking around on GAG questions, I notice a simple solution to many problems people question: be assertive and boldly honest. It would diffuse all of the confusion. I recognize that some people are simply passive by nature and it's difficult for them to find it in themselves and just boldly put the question out there. Yet, I really feel like it would make some situations so much easier. Many times people come here trying to figure out how someone is feeling and what they're thinking via GAG community when they could just ask that specific individual. When I used to be more quiet and passive, I NEVER got the results I wanted. I just sat around longing for them and wondering how they'd make my life feel. Then I got sick and tired of it so I simply practiced the art of assertive behavior and the difference in my life results are impeccable. I've found that simple assertive, bold body language makes a totally different outcome.

I think there are some situations where in order to get the results you want, you should just slide under the radar and let things play out without taking any assertive action. However, in most other situations, it just seems like having an assertive presence and being bold gets you farther faster.

What do you think? Do you believe that being more assertive makes many life situations easier to deal with? Any personal experiences?

I find this interesting because I could probably count on my two hand people who say this isn't true, but yet I keep encountering people who believe or act like this is actually the truth.

My boyfriend came in the door today, very discouraged. He was going to go to a social group, but was late. And I asked him why he didn't just go in despite being a few minutes late, and he said that it's because the people are very snobby, and are wealthy and therefore better than everyone else and he felt he couldn't go in.

I thought how he was feeling was ridiculous because wealthy people are just like you and me and money makes them no better or no worse than everyone else.

But I was interested in this concept and how others felt about this so I thought I would take it to GAG.

So what do you guys think?
