I got into an argument with another girl on here awhile back. She believed that if a man had a close platonic relationship (aka a friendship) with women while in a relationship that he was "acting single" and was being "disrespectful" which is absurd to me.

My ex boyfriend had a female friends and I never found it disrespectful or him acting single; it was just him hanging with his friends. It seems so controlling to me that she thinks a women shouldn't let her man have female friends.

She said it wasn't about control, but the more she talked, the more that is how it sounded. Plus, it sounds so hypocritical to me that she think this concerning men, but that its regarded by society that it is more or less acceptable for women to have guy friends while in a relationship.

obviously not a stranger in this case. say you have known each other 3 or so years. he asked me out a few years ago, but at the time i thought guys just date for sex, and if he wanted to get to know me he'd be ok being friends, plus i was not ready for sex. so i just wanted to be friends. anyhow I've known how i felt quite a while, i have not said anything bc i didn't really know what to do. my first instinct was to walk away bc how can i go from insisting friendship to being like, oh by the way im in love so lets daye'. but I don't know i kid of want to see how he even thinks about it.

this is a first for me, itd be a same to not even get a chance to see... i suppose i dont really think i can tell him and have him be ok with it. but if i say nothing i know ill just fade away. so im leaning towards saying something. just wondering what people think. im ok with dating but i think i want to tell him first bc i dont want it hanging over my head, causing tension. if we date i want to go in calmly. and if he's not interested i want to move on knowing i was above board.
