So my girlfriend and I are both in college (I'm 22, she's 20). We've only been going out 3 months, so she hasn't met my mom yet, but my mom has told me she thinks my girlfriend is immature. My girlfriend likes to take a lot of pictures, especially of her and me together (couples selfies if you will) and tag me in them on Facebook, so my mom sees all the photos. She's made me "pose" for staged photos before, but that's only because she wants to show off our love. I will admit she is very into social media, but she's also a microbiology major and gets better grades than me! Still, my mom thinks the excessive photos are signs of immaturity. I'm very close to my mom and she's been right about girls I've dated in the past, so should I listen to her?

I've been having the same issues with my parents ever since i started college. The first year I was doing marketing and i was doing good. Then my parents made me switch Majors because a friend told my dad that no one is going to give a marketing job to a Asian. He'll give the job to white people first. They said i have a Choice. But, when I talked about going back into Marketing, they'd say "the income isn't enough". Ever since I started Engineering I'm not doing good in school. My family seriously pisses me off. My life I do what I do. Im not a kid. Now I've lost motivation and interest in school and they're still making me go. I paid for my summer class courses thinking maybe that'll motivate me but it isn't. I just dont feel like going back. If I'm paying it should be my choice if I want to go. I don't know what to do anymore. I just want to work. Earn money. Thats basically why people go to college. Get a better education so they can make money.

I'm just wondering since in college, it seems to be expected of nearly every college students to be very socially active and to be 100% happy with their lives. In my case, I'm none of this. I'm currently in a STEM major program (Software Engineering), which I enjoy and find interesting but incredibly difficult and tedious at times, to the point where I pretty much have to sacrifice my social life, part-time job, and eating and being physically healthy, in order to catch up and do well in all my classes. Even 2 classes for one semester for my major is tough enough for me. I used to go to the gym and box a lot and run miles. Now I've gained a little over 60lbs and lost my cardio since I started going to college 4 years ago.

I feel like I'm doing something wrong with my life if that's how I'm doing in college.

YOU HAVE NO LIFE AND YOU'RE ABOUT TO BE **SINGLE** BECAUSE YOU WILL **NOT** ADMIT FAULT IN ANYTHING AND YOU BICKER LIKE A CHILD. THERE IS NO FUCKING WAY ONE PERSON CAN BE RIGHT 100% OF THE TIME AND HAVE ALL THE PROBLEMS YOU HAVE.

THIS IS WHAT I TOLD HER AFTER SHE BICKERED WITH ME ABOUT CHANGING *MY* *MINE* *MY* MIND about which major to go back to college for. Apparently it won't help my career when I'm LITERALLY getting a degree in a field I've been working in for 10 years and already started a business that has turned a profit in that field. But she just HAS to find some shit to contradict.

no matter how hard you work (and how much you practice) or no?

I'm currently taking University Physics I (PHY121) in college summer semester and I did fairly well on my first exam last week but right now, the current chapter/unit I'm working on is just beating me up badly and completely going over my head (projectile motions and many complex word problems). I have an exam for it in a couple of hours and I'm stressing out a lot over it. The homework and study guide (for this exam) that I'm working on right now, is making me feel stupid and that I don't belong in this class or in Engineering programs since Physics and Engineering is obviously far more than just memorization and formulas. It's also being logical and creative (80% thinking outside of the box, which is the type of skills that I'm a little weak on right now that I'm trying really hard to improve).

Recently I found out my now ex girlfriend of 4 years cheated on me by asking another guy out. We were together for a little over 4 years (all through high school and the first semester of college) and we were in love. We still had our occasional ups and downs, but everything always worked itself out and nothing was ever to major. Throughout our relationship she would consistently lie to me and promise that she wouldn't do it again. These lies ranged from stupid trivial things that wouldn't even make sense to lie about to things that were much more serious. I always stressed to her that trust and loyalty were fundamental to a happy, healthy relationship. Our relationship quickly dissolved after she cheated on me. At first I blamed myself and went through about 3 months of depression... it was the darkest, loneliest place I've ever experienced. I wouldn't wish it upon anyone, not even my worst enemy. However, things improved tremendously for me once I started talking to other very beautiful and sincere girls. I restored my confidence in myself and what I stand for after hooking up around 10 times with 2 different girls (both of which were models). My psyche was never better at this time. My ex entered into a serious bout of depression whenever I was almost fully recovered from my own depression. Unlike her, I stayed by her side and told her that everything would be okay in the long run, and that she would feel better with time. She was indifferent to me when I tried reaching out for help during my depression. I felt it was my duty after spending 4 years together to make sure she would be okay. Its common human decency and the right thing to do, right? Anyways, she got herself a new boyfriend and did a 180 on me. After supporting her she decided to rub it in my face that she had gotten a new boyfriend (he clearly isn't on the same level as me, so jealousy isn't an issue). I want closure and requested one call with her before ending the toxic relationship. Am I doing the right thing?
