A common right wing talking point is that while democrats portray themselves as the part of the people while the republican party is the party of big business, the reality is that the regulatory burden that they've put on the economy makes it harder for small businesses to compete so the the democrats are really the party of big business while the republicans are the party of small businesses. Another way that they like to phrase this is that the Republicans represent the "capitalist" party whereas the Democrats represent the "corporatist" party. But there is one big elephant in the room which is that business-employee and business-customer relations aren't the only ones that have government regulations on them. There are also business-business regulations including Anti-trust laws (they're called 'competition laws' elsewhere) which prevent corporate giants from crushing small businesses and these are supported more by Democrats than Republicans.

So do you think that if it wasn't for the "regulatory burden", small businesses would do better or worse against the corporate giants if the anti trust laws were also repealed. I mean if you look at the "Gilded Age" when neither was in play the corporate bullies had no problem crushing small businesses even without those businesses having "regulatory burdens" but I digress, much has changed since then.
