I put my hands on his arms, we stared into each other's eyes and we smiled at each other. When he saw me recently he asked me, "How are you? Did you get back from Portugal alright?" and he smiled at me. I told him I am going to Portugal at the same time as him, he smiled, he looked at the floor and he said, "Good stuff". I told him I want him to meet my friend Terry. Mike said to me, "Where is she?". I said to Mike "He is outside". When I said, "He", Mike stared at me blankly. He looked away from me. They shook hands but Mike didn't smile at Terry. I told Terry, "Go and get a photo with Mike and I will take it". Mike asked me if I wanted a photo with them both so I did. I was on the left, Mike was in the middle and Terry was on the right. Terry said to Mike, "You're a rose between two thorns, actually I mean you're a thorn between two roses". Mike said to Terry, "No actually the rose is on my left". I told Mike that he didn't do a certain song for me and he said to me, "I'll do it for you the next night". Me and Mike then smiled at each other while looking into each other's eyes

I dated a guy for 2 years and then I found out he had been cheating on me throughout the entire duration of our relationship. I left him in May and then I met a guy in July. I did not expect to be in a relationship so soon after such a devestating breakup.

My current guy is really sweet, loyal and House husband material, but he’s not romantic in any way. I have spoken to him and I’ve told him that I really appreciate all the little things he does such as my ironing, the cooking, cleaning etc but I wish he could be a little bit romantic once in a while. He doesn’t agree with my idea of romance, he thinks that gifting flowers, chocolates, fancy dinners are things that what couples in failing marriages do and there is no trace of me on his socia media. I hate to be the person who keeps tally but I think I’ve been very romantic; I managed to get hold of a rare copy of a book he’s been searching for years, I surprised him with concert tickets for a band he really wants to see and I bought him a pair of £200 earphones he has been eyeing up for months. Valentine’s Day is a silly commercial holiday but I was hoping for at least something but I got nothing! nada!

He lives just over an hour away via train, I travel every week/every couple of weeks to see him but all we ever do is stay at home with his mum, watch tv and occasionally go to the pub next door with his mum. I help babysit his niece and he sometimes leaves me at his home alone so he can go kickboxing for a couple of hours. I’ve been going through depression, I’ve only opened up to him once and he gossiped about my business to his mum so I haven’t been able to trust him with any other secrets.

Despite all of that I still really like him but a part of me feels like we’ve hit dead end because he’s not romantic. Should I dump him? Am I shallow for wanting gifts and fancy dinners once I a while?
