Why is it Ok for a woman to dictate what her man can wear, but a man gets viciously attached for doing the same thing?

Example, perfectly ok for a woman to not be attracted to and suggest her boyfriend not wear certain styles of underwear, but the second a guy does the same thing to his girlfriend, he's controlling and shallow.
