So basically this man is 58 years old. His wife is 57, and his daughter is 25. The daughter announces gleefully that she is pregnant, but a few days later the fiance aged 27 dropped her off with all of her possessions because he found out through a mutual friend that she cheated on him during a business trip that lasted three weeks and the baby is not his.

The mothers response was to be supportive in such a way where she bashed the fiance and his family. The daughter is posting horrible stuff on Facebook about the fiance and saying men are trash (that old tired bullshit). The father is extremely disappointed and feels like the daughter not only screwed up, but hurt an innocent man in the process and embarrassed the family. The mother actually said things like "you'll find someone better" , "he wasn't man enough anyway" which is disturbing and disgusting. Especially since She doesn't see anything wrong with what she said.

Later that situation evolved into the husband finding out that the wife had an 8 month affair and started divorce proceedings. The daughter has even disowned the father. It seems like mother like daughter.

My own response to it would have not been to comfort her, but to make her understand that what she did was very wrong. that she almost got away with paternity fraud. that she either needs to decide to abort or to go to the guy that she got pregnant with and see if she can raise the child with him. I would not enable her whorish behavior nor would i coddle her.. thankfully my wife agrees with me on this and can't understand why the mother in that situation would behave like she did.

I'm not saying I had the worst childhood in the world, but it wasn't goo either

I don't know who my biological father is, my first stepdad was a drunk who gave me the wrong perspective of the world mostly about women and black men. I was bullied in elementary school and I still deal with the scars. My mother never really helped with my personal problems as a child, she just got mad when I brought it up. I had no real friends, the friends I had in high school stopped inviting me to come after I left school and had fun without me, so I basically shut them out of my life. I watched my brother and sister get abused by their romantic partner and do drugs as a young child. When I was 13 my mother divorced my then stepdad and he took EVERYTHING, left my mother and I homeless for a bit and we were poor from then on, and my 2nd and current stepdad is on disability and doesn't get much.
I look back at my life now and realized that it was a total waste plagued by mental illness, rejection, ostracism and neglect. I never got to go on family vacations, play with the new video games, watch the cool TV shows, go to parties, go to events or any of that. So far my life has been me just waiting and hoping, 21 years of basically nothing. I remember how embarrassing it was going to school and listening to my peers talk about the cool things they got to do and I could only say "oh that's cool", I still remember the douchey kids laughing at me when I said that I did and had nothing. I know it may seem petty and materialistic but I can't seem to let it down. Mental illness basically swallowed me whole.
I'm planning on seeing a psychiatrist to get help so I can live a happy productive life. Can I have fun as an adult to make up for a depressing childhood?

So my fiance and I plan to marry in a year or so. I hold significantly more financial assets then her and would like to protect them should we end up getting a divorce.

We consider out relationship fairly gender equal. She has a degree from NYU and is capable of making her own income. I am financially independent from my family etc.

Is it fair for me to ask her to sign a prenup?
