The two of us grew up together as neighbors and used to spend time together all the time. We used to both have a thing for each other but our parents werent okay with us spending so much time together once we were both in high school since im two years older than her so nothing really happened between us. Nothing really happened between us partially because i never made a move even though i really cared about her, and partially because dating just wasn't something my parents would allow. She ended up getting in a relationship during the middle of my senior year with a friend of hers in her grade and I was really conflicted at the time because it made me sad that I couldn't be anything more with her yet I was really happy that she finally had someone who could make her feel loved, cared about, and happy. She had recently undergone heart surgery, her dad had recently left the home to receive treatment for leukemia, and her and her mother didn't really get along. I tried to be there for her as much as i could, but I was going through a time of a lot of change with getting ready for my future and being my own independent person studying at my university. When i ended up graduating high-school and headed to the university, the two of us were still really close and talked but we gradually stopped communicating as i got busy with university life, work, and living on my own for the first time. Aside from being busy and having to deal with a lot of my own problems, I had strong lingering feelings for her and so i distanced myself from her so that she could have a happy relationship with her boyfriend.
