Do you believe children and teens are becoming too disrespectful towards adults? I mean any adult but mostly those that are most prevalent in their lives: teachers, parents, other relatives, bosses, etc.

This question actually comes up a lot during meetings I have with other teachers (I teach 7th grade) about kids talking back, calling them names, and pretty much doing whatever they want. I've taught in two districts and while my second district isn't nearly as bad as my first one, I've experienced some of these problems. Behavior is usually 50% of most full staff meetings I've been in. And apparently this isn't too different from teachers I've met/spoken with both in my state and from across the nation (Yes, I'm American).


I'm not a parent so I can't speak from that side, though I have witnessed disrespect towards the parent during parent/teacher conferences while the child is there several times. But what do you think?
