I went to a concert yesterday with my brother.

This girl was there who looked and smiled at me, but I didn't want to flirt because it was my favorite band and I just wanted to enjoy the concert and not ruin the vibe for everyone else around me. So then she came to stand next to me and started "accidentally" touching me and bumping into me as she was dancing. I was still looking at the band, and didn't acknowledge her at all. So then she moved right in front of me with her back towards me, dancing just inches away from me, accidentally bumping into me, touching me, swinging her fair over my face and turning over her shoulder to look at me. My eyes were glued on stage.

I noticed that it was cold outside and she wasn't wearing a coat. So I thought she would be walking down with me to get her coat from the coat-check. When we were both on the line, waiting to get our coats, there was normal lighting and it was finally quiet (though our ears were still buzzing).

I could tell she knew I was behind her, by the way she was acting excited and nervous while looking at her girlfriend. So I gently but firmly touched the small of her back. She turned around, happy and surprised, and I told her "I just wanted to tell you, before you left tonight.. I think you're beautiful"

That's it. That's all I wanted to tell her, so she wouldn't feel like I didn't notice her, or that she wasn't beautiful enough to get my attention.

But then she turned around again and started talking. Asking me what my favorite song was, and what her favorite song was, and how we both ended up coming there. But then she was right in front of the coat-check, her and her friend both got their coats, she stood there for 2-3 seconds smiling at me, and we both said goodnight to each other.

After I got into the car with my brother, he called me a jerk for what I did. He said that this girl is probably confused right now, or thinks that we're making fun of her, or that I just said what I said to be polite, but that I didn't really mean it and that she probably doesn't feel attractive now.

That wasn't my intention at all. If I wanted to, I could've just avoided her on line and not said a thing to her even after the concert was over. The only reason I did, was because I saw her trying and making an effort all night, and I wanted to communicate to her that I appreciated it, that I noticed her, that she got my attention, that I genuinely thought she was beautiful, and that I liked her. That's all.

Then he asked me why I didn't ask her for her number to to go grab a coffee or drink right there and then.

I'm working 70+ hours a week (I'm working in taxation), so what would even be the point of doing that? We would never talk or be able to have a relationship! But besides that, the bigger reason is that I didn't even KNOW HER! Why would I ask her out on a date? Why? Because she looks good?

He thinks I'm a jerk for wanting/needing more of a reason to ask her for her number or ask her out. What do you think?
