Hello everyone.

Some 2 months ago I registered in this site to ask a simple question. I ended up hanging around here more than I though and I add a girl as friend. let's call her Z. She is American, I'm Portuguese.

1st of January, Z talks to me and after some time we end up very close friends. Telling each other secrets, and talking everyday (really everyday). Some days we talked for 12 hours (!).

I expressed my intention of meeting her someday, and she seemed happy about it. Z told her father about it, and obviously he said no. I intended to meet her in summer, not right now. Her father disapproved that we talked.

Time went by, and Saturday before Valentine's she started acting weird. Didn't want to talk like before, and it happened overnight (literally). 13th of February she finally told me why. She didn't believe her father would let us meet. I didn't give it too much importance, Since I'm sure after we talked for months and her father talked to me and my parents, there would be no problem.

Some days ago, she met a guy, let's call him X. They were friend, but her father wants them to be more than friends. She is close to him, and wants to "hangout more with him".

After much talking, I ended up saying she had to choose me or him. Because if she kept talking to him, she would go away from me. Or even if she didn't, her father wouldn't let us meet if Z and X were close (the father would believe there was a chance for them to date). She didn't want to choose, but she ended up saying "we should stop talking then".

I always let it be clear I wanted more than friendship when we met, even with the distance. She seemed happy with it.

I didn't have the right to ask that, since we are just friends now.

Today I intend to apologize and try to remain close to her and talk as much, despite she still talks to X.

Now the question is: I should have never asked, therfore it's my fault this is happening.

She should go away from him, since she knows it might end our relashion and that it hurts me.

We should stop talking since we don't have a chance.

What should I do?

I've talked to her everyday, even though I was in my friends house, or gave up parties to talk to her. I asked her to not talk to her when we could be talking. She said no.
