Search Results: afraid of rejection

This question was spurred on by a segment I saw on a talk show. A woman made the claim that men should be the aggressors in dating and should be the first to say I love you. Her reasoning was that if the girl says I love you first, the guy can potentially get scared off if he doesn't match her level of seriousness. She also argued that taking initiative makes a girl emotionally vulnerable.

What I don't understand is why people like this women, seem to assume the same principles don't apply to men. If a man takes initiative, doesn't that make him emotionally vulnerable as well? If he says I love you first, doesn't that have the potential to scare off the woman in question as well?

I'm of the belief that all things in dating should be 50/50. After all, we are all human beings.

I have come to the conclusion that most women are well aware that men face the same fears and dilemma's that come with taking the initiative in the dating world. I just feel they have done a better job at convincing society that their cause is somehow more worthy of sympathy. Basically they have successfully convinced society that men should be the ones to do the dirty work in this particular situation.
