Ok so there's this guy I sit next to in my Spanish class (we're 16, in sixth form) and we get on really well, there's definitely chemistry there. we've only know eachother 3.5 months or so). sometimes he'll touch my arm, we'll often tease eachother etc. About a month ago one of his friends whispered to me 'he told me he likes you'. I wasn't really into him in that way, but I when I heard that, It sort of made me more attracted to him. I felt flattered.
but since then the guys become really distant, reason my messages/snapchats but taking ages to reply, if at all. When I smile at him in the corridor /say hi he'll just briefly smile (like barely at all) then avert his eyes (although he's always done this, it's not new).

also, since then his friends have been making a massive deal of if, constantly teasing him about liking me and stuff (very loudly and obviously). but everyone is like 'oh you and soandso' and 'how romantic' and stuff. it's like become common gossip now :-/. even though it's not really like that. but the thing is today a random boy (who I didn't think this guy talked to) came up to me and was like 'I hear you've got the hots for (name), apparently you're all over him.' and he's not the only one, I heard other people saying similar things.

please help, do you think the guy had spread this rumour in order to stop his friends teasing him, or what? I feel kind of upset because I haven't been 'all over him' or anything even like that. I'm barely at all any friendlier with him than I am with my girly friends... but maybe this comes off as flirting coz I'm naturally quite jokey and friendly anyway... I dunno. I've been accused of flirting before (another guy) when I seriously didn't think I was doing, just having a normal convo with usual banter. to be fair though I have been turning on the flirt side a little since I heard he liked me. but not much!!!
any advice /comments would be SO appreciated. thanks xxx

So this guy is driving me insane. So it all started when he started checking me out a lot. He would lock eyes with me from across the room, be overly gentlemanly, get jealous and try to make me jealous. We never talked to each other but our chemistry was so "there" you could feel it. So time passed (I'm extremely shy, and working on it). His friends would laugh about how he would try to approach girls. But around me hot girls would eye eff him and he would ignore it. He used to come with his current girlfriend but he's not with anyone. He stammered sometimes. Now things are different. He's still overly gentlemanly, he speaks for me in class, helps me and my friends. He still stammers. He is overly nice to my parents. But he flirted with this girl he never did before. Later he acted really sweet and hung nearby my friend and I like he wanted to talk to us. I don't know if I'm just a challenge because I get a lot of attention or he geniunely wants to date me. So I'm wondering if I should give up?
