Search Results: my ex lies about me

So, I have a friend (20 F) who is dating the friend (26 M) of my ex (21 M). She has revealed to me that he has told their group of friends that the reason for our break up is because I was going out to clubs every night and that it was affecting his father's health (I was staying with his parents at the time time, while he was at university). That is obviously not the truth, and she said that he is saying this to gain sympathy from his friends (who were on my side after the break up). Truthfully, he cheated on me while we were long-distance and I found out from another friend. He never owned up to it and still continues to deny it, even though he began dating a new girl right after dumping me. Now, I have not talked to him since our break up a year ago but hearing that he is spreading this lie to cover up for his cheating really irritates me because he is making it look like I am the one at fault. If you were in this situation what would you do? Would you confront him about lying about you or would you just let it go?

Well we broke up a long while back in May. If you had to rate this on a 1-10 mean scale, what would you give it?

I was only being verbal during the whole argument but purposely insulted his mother and hurled out every single bad thing I could think about very loud repeatedly. Laughter was included too when he said once to stop it. Then I just continued and at one point told him to hit me if that's what he wanted to so desperately, that I would understand if he lost his temper once and wouldn't tell anyone (total lie; I would do the complete opposite) but he didn't fall for it.

Instead all of the sudden, I got called crazy and he left. My plan was to get him to fail so that way, I can get him charged for assault, post it all over fb, tell everyone (his family, his friends, my family, etc) and basically get him in trouble for it.
