My parents decided to get cats years ago (I was 16). They got a brother and a sister cat. My parents always said they would get one fixed, but they NEVER did and they inbred, over and over and over again.
We gave away most of the kittens, some died due to complications with inbreeding, but they decided to keep some. But some of the ones we kept died slow deaths because my parents REFUSED to take them to the vet because they can't afford it (WHY THE FUCK DID THEY GET THEM THEN!).
2 years ago the brother (and father) cat died. The same thing with the others had complications, parents refused vet, buried in back yard with the rest.
Then the mother cat started inbreeding with her sons that we kept. I told my parents that we NEED to get her fixed and they said that they will do it. THEY DECIDED TO GET 2 DOGS INSTEAD!
The cats were forced into our filthy unfinished basement to avoid the dogs. Eventually, I put a litter box and feeding bowl in my room so they have somewhere clean to sleep. I basically took ownership of them cooped up in my small bedroom.
The girl is in heat and I don't have the money to get her fixed. Worst of all, one of the boys peed on my bed and it was brown (pissing blood) and I don't have the money to take him to a vet, and my parents refuse to as always.
I constantly feel guilt for what they go through and the ones that have died from neglect, but I didn't ask for these cats, I was forced into this position. So I'm considering surrendering the sick cat and rehoming the rest. But I love them so much, especially the 3-month-old kitten. How will they feel about it? I don't want them to feel abandoned, but I don't want them to suffer here either. I don't have the money to take care of their health, I don't even have money to take care of my own health.
I don't know what to do. I'm sad, confused, and angry at my parents. They wanted cats so bad but didn't plan on how to take proper care of them.

My girl has ADHD and Depression/Anxiety.

She is "confused" about whether she wants to continue dating me after an argument. I went no contact and gave her space the last 2 weeks.

But during the 2 weeks she can't go more than 1 day without an excuse to reach out. We decided to continue going on romantic dates but scaled back to once or twice per week. No change. Plenty of kissing. Just no sex. No sleep overs.

She is still angry about our disagreement. But the last 2 days she has gone on facebook in local giveaway pages. She's always on there... however... these last 2 days she's been finding gifts for my cat. She found free cat food for pick up. She found a little cat tree online at 1:00 a. m. She typicallyis in bed by 10:00 p. m. Then she tagged me to the posted item. She has no cats or pets.

I want a pet but I work 6 days a week, often 4pm-10pm shifts so I don't wake up till 10am-12pm. I live in a 1 bed, 1 bathroom apartment with a kitchen shared by 3-4 people any given year.

I really want a cat but I don't want to neglect it. My next idea was a turtle. Is a turtle a good house pet?
