The reason why I mention the fact that they’ve never been married is because if they had experienced a marriage, it would make sense for them to have three or four children over time. However, the fact that they are not married literately means that they were either in a long term relationship that most likely had commitment issues and chose not to get married. Or they were sleeping around so much during their single life that they reproduced numerous times possibly with more than one person.

Marrying someone like this means that you automatically have to take on the financial duties and responsibilities of parent guardianship and help in sustaining the lives of these children. That’s my main issue with this. Although I’m not entirely poor, I’m also not rich and I don’t think it’s fair for me to marry someone and automatically have to feed three or four extra mouths and buy clothes for three or four extra humans that I did not create. I honestly worry that they would become a financial burden. I’d also be worried that the dynamic of the household could be negatively effected for the simple fact that I am not their mother and they may feel bitter towards the idea of me taking their mother’s position in terms of a family unit with their father. When it comes to dating a guy with kids, it’s worrisome because I wouldn’t really have a legitimate place to discipline his kids if they’re at my home misbehaving. I also feel like my mother and father would be disappointed with my choice and I don’t know if there would be any weird energy with them being grandparents to kids they just met. :/

Do you think it’s a bad idea to date or marry someone with three or four kids who has never been married? Is it better to just avoid this situation? Why or why not?
