My friend got engaged early last year, when her partner asked for her parents blessing he didn't have a ring so his mum gave him an old one of hers to use until he bought one.
She said yes, and wore the interim one but was excited for her own. After a few months he admitted he hadn't saved anything and couldn't afford to buy her one so the family one would have to do. I know she felt really let down and knew what ring she wanted so I bought it and gave it to him for her, and helped make up a crappy lie about how he got the money. Everyone's happy

Fast forward to now, their relationship ended in January (no surprise) and they've both started dating other people. Over the last two months she keeps bringing up how disappointed she is that it was her dream ring, but can't wear it because the relationship is over but at the same time doesn't want to sell it and buy something else for herself (and she wouldn't get anything decent for it anyway).

So, do I tell her the background of it to see if that will alleviate her odd feelings about wearing it? I'm pretty confident that knowing where it came from will change her perception of its meaning.
Its a pear diamond, so could be worn on another finger as a dress ring.
Or just leave it, keep it a secret and tell her to let it go?

background: my boyfriend is a really gr8 boyfriend, he does things 90% of other boyfriends won't do (trust me). he has a good temper, is nice even though im a brat and throw mean words at him sometimes (but i apologized and told him i will try to change) etc.
but he cheated on me. emotionally (no physical contact). what he did was, he has got female friends online and he got too close to them. he called them for hours and hours and hid it from me. he did it twice.
but when i think about it, can i really fully blame him? when we dont meet up, he's in his room alone the whole day. his family doesn't talk to one another and he settles all his meals alone. sometimes im busy and i can't text him the whole day. even if i can, its boring to text the whole day right? while those girls can call him. (i usually can't call bc strict parents). so when there are friends who want to talk to him, obviously he will get really happy and carried away because he has no company. he's just this innocent 17 year old boy that craves company like everyone else so when someone is interested to talk to him, its normal for him to be happy and interested in talking to them right? so are his actions justifiable or is it totally his fault?
