So a few months ago, I got out of my first relationship. It ended really badly, to say the least. I wanted out for nearly month before we broke up. However, I was a pushover and let her convince me to stay with her and be unhappy. Fair warning: this is a long one.

Since that relationship ended I've been assessing the girls around me looking for a potential date. I kept having the problem of finding a cute girl with an awful personality (a definite no-go) or a cute girl who doesn't necessarily have a bad personality, but maybe isn't interested in the same things that I am, or isn't very smart.

About a month and a half ago I met a girl who met all the basic prerequisites that I look for: attractive, similar interests, intelligent. She was basically awesome, and I immediately took a liking to her. Just as I was about to ask her out I found out she was taken. That hit me like a freight train, especially when I found out that the couple is pretty committed. I was disappointed, but whatever, I got over it. I still wanted to find a girl that was girlfriend material.

Then everything changed. Well, nothing really changed, I just realized how things really were. Last night I went to a party. I'm in high school - I've been to parties before. But this is the new years eve party, thus putting it on another level.

I got wasted. Well, pretty wasted. I'm still together, but I've never been that drunk before. During this party I found myself on the floor of the bathroom at this chicks house, waiting to puke, and talking to one of the coolest dudes I know. We'll call him Jeff.

Jeff is smart, plays the six-string in a sweet band, and gets the ladies. He's also great to talk to. But he has lady troubles to. But his are the opposite of mine: he doesn't want commitment.

It was there on the floor of that bathroom that I realized that I'm in high school. I've got raging hormones and decades ahead of me. Why do I need to settle down? I'm not going to know any of this chicks in a couple years!

My intentions, obviously, have changed. I no longer seek commitment, but rather enjoyment. Does this make me a douche bag? Our friend Jeff isn't a douche bag is he? I know for a fact that he lets girls know ahead of time that he's only looking to hook up. If I were to do the same, then I'd be able to sleep at night, correct? What do you think about my changed outlook? Am I silly for thinking this?

Been dating a girl for 8 years come March and we moved in together after the first year. we have a dog who now lives with me as we have been living apart for this past year. over the past couple years she has become asexual and in the 4 times we have seen each other this year only once did she want to fool around and the other time took some convincing the other times notta and gets mad when I try. I have a very high libido and this isn't cutting it. sh*tty thing to is that I can count on 2 hands the amount we fooled around total in the 2 previous years. I have been faithful but am finding it is getting harder and harder to resist other women and have recently decided to pursue someone I have liked for 7 years. needless to say I do want to end things and move on and just want to know how to do this and pursue this other woman who in all honestly is marriage material and would love to make that happen. (might be hanging out with her, her sis and the sisters husband in a few weeks to board... girlfriend won't be there... possibily to say things then?) most of my things are still at our place in which she resides (approx 16hr drive from me) and I only have the bare essentials here. I would like my stuff back and to keep the dog whom I adopted when she was working in the field (for those of you whom are unaware these are camp jobs typically on a 6w and 2w rotation). this other girl is the sister of one of her close friends who has had a bad run with men and I am hoping I can change that, give her some stability and in the end perhaps take her off the market and give her a solid a caring man to come home to everyday. I would be the luckiest guy ever if I could make this happen. best part is her sis (friends with my gf) loves me and her husband and I get along very well... like brothers that don't fight. I know Xmas is around the corner and I don't want to break it off then cause I think that is a pretty sh*ty time of year to get dumped, although we did break up about 5 years ago for 2 weeks and she dumped me over Facebook... so I want to be nicer about it than she was then... after xmas?! saw her a few weeks ago and the most fun I had that whole week was when I was near the girl I am interested in. that's what my thoughts are... imput is greatly appreciated.
