I'm sure you've all heard the question before: "Is it better to do weighted ab exercises or unweighted ab exercises?"

On one side, they say that you must treat your abs like any other muscle. They say that by doing weighted exercises, you will get the same result, but faster and more efficiently. - Being able to achieve my goal faster would be awesome, but it almost sounds too good to be true.

On the other side, they say that your abs are special muscles that should be kept small and lean, and therefore, doing weighted exercises are bad because they will give you a "blocky" aesthetic and make your midsection too bulky. - This is a very legitimate concern for me, because my main objective is to make my waist slimmer and more defined. I want to avoid unnecessary mass at any cost.

I'd like to hear your take on this. Do you side with weighted or unweighted ab exercises, and why? Feel free to vote in the poll, and please explain your answer.
