My girlfriend and I have been dating for 18 months now, we've lived together for about 9 months and we've had our ups and downs. Yesterday during one of our fights she broke up with me and told me to go to my moms, she's done this many times and I have expressed how I feel about the fake up. She apologized and said that she didn't mean it and that she wants to stay together, i suggested that I should move out at the end of our lease, bit break up but just move out cause I can not handle the idle threats. I have a career and I cannot be worried about here I am to be living, she promised that she wouldn't fake up with me again, but when I said I believed it would still be a good idea to have our own space she hastily broke up with me again, is this abusive and should I run away as fast as ever?

I need some advice.

My girlfriend and I are both 23 years old. We have been together for 3 years.

Her parents have a culture of "if you live under my roof then you're under my rules". We are both 23 years old but she is treated like a child. She is NOT allowed to visit me, and when we want to hang out, I have to drive an hour to her house. When I visit her, we are only allowed to sit in the open kitchen, and we can't leave the house together unless we take one of her siblings with us. Her parents will constantly track her phone and check her car's mileage to make sure of where she's at and where she goes.

I work full time and live by myself in a studio apartment. I have proposed multiple times that she move in with me temporarily until she secures a full-time job, then we can move into a bigger apartment that's in her town so we can be close to her family and friends. She has always given me dates on when she would move in with me, ex: "as soon as I graduate from college, I'll move in with you." "As soon as we reach our 2 year anniversary, I'll move in with you" etc. Then she always backs out. Her parents manipulate her by telling her things like "if you dare move out at such a young age then you're never welcome back to the house", "If you leave us, it will be the breaking point for us and send our depression over the edge" "if you leave us, then that shows how much you care, you're choosing someone over your own family" etc.

I love her but at this point it feels like I am in a relationship with her parents. It's not right that both of us are 23 and have to be treated this way. I am tired of being told that she will move in and then let me down. I want her to sacrifice for us. She asks me to be patient because moving out will cause family problems. She tells me that if I love her, I'll stay by her side and wait until she's ready to leave her parents. & I do love her, so I'm torn.

What do I do? Has anyone else ever dealt with strict and/or interfering parents?
