SCENARIO: There is a puppy, weak, tired, but immortal. It is not suffering now but anytime it feels pain that pain is worsened by one thousand times the normal response. It's howls are heartbreaking, mystical in nature it even brings the cruelest of beings to their knees in tears with guilt being forced upon their hearts as part of the mechanism of that poor dogs enchantment. In short if you kick the puppy you will suffer the guiltiest guilt a man could guilt himself to suffer.

However the caveat is this! If you do not kick the puppy sparing yourself and the puppy suffering then people will die. These people will die before your eyes, so you are traumatized either way, but to kick the puppy even lightly is at least one year's worth of trauma. The room is filled with 50 people ready to die in many, many ways; if you kick the puppy as hard as you can no one dies. If you barely tap the puppy one person lives. Any hesitation or reduction of force ( A.K.A. inbetween the two extremes ) will kill so many people.
