Why would a group of guys howl at a girl?

i was walking home today and passed a group of guys who looked like they were in their mid to late 20's. they all were staring at me and started howling like dogs and they followed me for two blocks, howling the whole time.

what does that mean?

Means they are f***ing morons interested in boosting their egos by objectifying and degrading women whom they are howling at. In my mind, they tend to be players who just need their egos stroked by a girl paying attention to what they are doing...another reason they might carry on this way is to one up their friends in how "macho" they are

And the funny thing...that kind of sh*t works for some women and thus it puts the "good guys" in the sh*t pile to rot for a good decade or so till women start to respect themselves.

I find it sad that you seem to think it is commonplace or acceptable behavior for them. The idea that you suggest carrying pepper spray means it is deplorable behavior.

If any of us had some some kind of invention where we can erase what has happened in the past, and present (now) I am sure she wouldn't want guys howling at her and what not. Reality is, guys do that, not all of them but some of them.

I think it is commonplace. In my city near the bar streets you can see groups of guys like this on the weekends. I think running and pepper spray are splendid ideas.
