Honestly, people tend to claim we should respect "religious beliefs". So what exactly is religion? It's just a bunch of people thinking the same thing.

If people thought the universe is made of cheese and we are all the shadows of the cheese holes in our existence and they demanded cheese discounts otherwise they wouldn't be able to practice their " religion" as cheesetafarians, people would claim the evil shopkeepers don't respect the ruleset of the cheesetafarian religion, and would need to publicly apologize so they wouldn't get death threats from extremists. What?

The point is, I don't think people ought to deserve special treatment just because their book was written more than a hundred years ago. Their actions should be just as subject to criticism by social laws and objectivity, as anyone else's who doesn't claim they are committing their actions in order to please a superstitious entity.

Whether it is a question of contaminating a pool with clothing not appropriate for swimming, or even death threats for criticism, or human right violations - we should see religions for what they are: beliefs. We should judge actions for what they are, with religion not being a free pass to do anything, and with our laws.
