I dated a guy for 2 years and then I found out he had been cheating on me throughout the entire duration of our relationship. I left him in May and then I met a guy in July. I did not expect to be in a relationship so soon after such a devestating breakup.

My current guy is really sweet, loyal and House husband material, but he’s not romantic in any way. I have spoken to him and I’ve told him that I really appreciate all the little things he does such as my ironing, the cooking, cleaning etc but I wish he could be a little bit romantic once in a while. He doesn’t agree with my idea of romance, he thinks that gifting flowers, chocolates, fancy dinners are things that what couples in failing marriages do and there is no trace of me on his socia media. I hate to be the person who keeps tally but I think I’ve been very romantic; I managed to get hold of a rare copy of a book he’s been searching for years, I surprised him with concert tickets for a band he really wants to see and I bought him a pair of £200 earphones he has been eyeing up for months. Valentine’s Day is a silly commercial holiday but I was hoping for at least something but I got nothing! nada!

He lives just over an hour away via train, I travel every week/every couple of weeks to see him but all we ever do is stay at home with his mum, watch tv and occasionally go to the pub next door with his mum. I help babysit his niece and he sometimes leaves me at his home alone so he can go kickboxing for a couple of hours. I’ve been going through depression, I’ve only opened up to him once and he gossiped about my business to his mum so I haven’t been able to trust him with any other secrets.

Despite all of that I still really like him but a part of me feels like we’ve hit dead end because he’s not romantic. Should I dump him? Am I shallow for wanting gifts and fancy dinners once I a while?

Me, I don’t really do v day. We normally just hang at home no gifts.

For Valentine’s Day I’m thinking about getting my boyfriend a blueprint of a baseball stadium. He really likes baseball but I’m not sure if a blueprint is too “nerdy”. What do you guys think?

I and this guy dated for a month, but he said he doesn't see any dating aspect even though we have a lot of common things. He said the reason is because i am very liberal (not a retard one) and also an immigrant with an accent (came here as a doctoral student) vs. his parents are very conservative from Texas, and after this age (29 he is) he really doesn't wanna hookup but look for a wife suitable to his family.

Of course, I don't make a big deal, and now i am seeing someone else, yet we keep in touch as we like fantasy books. He introduced me a great series of books but he is missing a prequel book from his collection.

I wonder if it would be weird or stupid or look like i am trying to get him back to gift him the prequel book to thank him for introducing me these books, and his friendship. I am really just being friendly, and not trying to win him over as he clearly thinks marriage or dating includes a family and lives his life according to them.
