Personally I think they're really really bloody stupid and people should use words instead. It is a text message after all. Like I guess a smiley face is okay but basically all other ones are stupid and worthless. Thoughts?

I've been curious about that for a while, and I have no clue why the younger generation seem to hate to verbally talk on the phone, and greatly prefer to use text and messaging services almost exclusively, or at least disproportionately so.

I've especially noticed that whenever I call my patients. Most of my older patients don't even know how to text. Those who do, specifically prefer to talking over the phone over texting. As for millennial and younger patients, they almost exclusively prefer texting. I would call one of them, leave a voice message asking for them to return my call, only to get a response via text shortly after. I thought, maybe some of them don't answer and prefer to text because they're at work/class, or want to maintain their privacy (not wanting to be overheard over the phone). That is understandable, but that's the case literally any time, and any day!

Personally, I don't mind it very much. I'm not particularly partial to speaking or texting. I am hoping that someone might have a better understanding as to why things are the way they are. I am curious.

Net Neutrality means that everything is treated neutrally on the web, or at least it's supposed to. It has served us quite well and there's no need to change it because it's not broken nor does it break anything.

The only people in America who want to repeal the Net Neutrality rules are ISPs, Conservative & Democrat politicians who receive large campaign contributions from those ISPs, and Republican voters who don't quite understand or grasp the consequences that will come from the removal of such rules.

Imagine turning your internet access into what Cable TV looks like still today. Want access to FB & Twitter? Well you'll have to make sure you add on the "Social Media" package to your internet.

Want Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon? Well you better add the "Media" package to your internet.

No, I'm not kidding. By removing Net Neutrality rules, the large internet service providers like Cox, Time Warner, AT&T, etc. will be able to block - or throttle (slow down) your connection to any website they please.

Donald Trump is friendly with the CEOs of those ISPs so anything he deems to be "Fake News" can and will be throttled or blocked entirely. Imagine searching for CNN or Huffpost on your PC only to have your ISP tell you that website is blocked.

Or maybe your ISP wants you to pay for cable so they block your access to Hulu, Netflix, etc.

Even if they don't do any of the above, they will 100% absolutely force websites to sign contracts with them and require that they pay for the ability to access their "customers." Netflix will cost you a LOT more, as will Hulu, etc.

Want to start a website? Well too bad, because if you aren't paying every ISP a premium price, you can't even gain visitors to your site, no matter how awesome it is. Why not? Because Cox or Comcast didn't receive your payment. This will happen if Trump and his cronies repeal the Net Neutrality rules.


They claim Net Neutrality is govt in your lives, but that's not true. It's the exact opposite.
