California, known as "The Golden State," is the most populous state in the United States with some 40 million residents with one out of every eight American's calling California home. It houses three of the US's largest cities: Los Angeles, San Diego, and San Jose. California not only has one of the most diverse populations of residents, it is also one of the most profitable states and most influential. It is well known for agriculture, politics, environmentalism, technology, the internet, and for one of the most well known and recognizable film industries in the world, Hollywood.
