The first avatar movie came out 10 years ago this December
After release it was extremely successful, becoming the highest grossing film ever made, and I believe it still holds that title

It was the movie that revolutionised 3D cinema which is believed to have contributed to it's success, aswell as the unique storyline and character designs and fantastic special effects

However, the upcoming sequels of the original are due to be released in 2020, 2021, 2024 and 2025, over a decade later

Do you think they will not be successful? Most of the people who will be targeted for viewing will have probably never seen avatar at that point
And the hype around 3D cinema, which is what avatar was known for, and one of the major reasons for it's popularity, has died down, with very few films releasing in 3D today
The teens who will watch the movies then probably have no idea of the scale of the 3D cinema world and the impact avatar had
