With the significant spread of influence of the rap/hip hop culture on the world stage since the 80's. Many lingos exclusively used in this subculture/ music genre have been extensively used by fans and fans alike all around the world.

This included my friend from West Africa. My friend and I are quite very close, he called me long time ago as his 'nigga'. He interchangebly uses the word 'homie' from time to time as a substitute. I understand this word can be quite offensive in an American context for a non black American to say but in many countries this slang word usage are pretty used indiscrimanately. My best friend from India would also use this word and of course I too but not often. Only when around them or when I'm listening to a rap song.
