So, I recently met a really nice girl at an event and we've been texting for a few days and have talked in a sci-fi facebook group she's an admin in. Now from what I understand most of her friends in this group are actually her friends in real life. I'm into geek stuff like sci-fi, comics, video games etc but i'm NOT a nerd and these guys clearly don't like that. However I think it's something she really really like about me. Scrolling up in the group chat shows a lot of them flirt and make comments that she brushes off, but it's largely stopped since I've been in the room and has been replaced with snarky comments towards me. Her and I are slated to actually see each other again and go out next week alone then we're going to a paint ball match in a few weeks with some guys from her comic book group. Anything I should/shouldn't do?

Don't get me wrong, I don't avoid other guys, and I get along just fine with other guys. But it seems that all my closest friends seem to all be women with the exception of like 2 or 3.

I'm not even necessarily effeminate, not by a long shot, but I'm not "as manly" as American society expects me to be. I don't mind playing sports with a few friends once in a while, but I definitely don't watch sports, and I don't know a lot about them besides a few basic rules. I also couldn't care less for anything car related. Sure, I can fix things around the house, but that's because I kind of have to, not because I'm "trying" to be manly.

My interests all tend to be associated with nerds or with geeks, neither of which are effeminate, but not manly either. Writing, drawing, singing, cooking, playing video games, analyzing TV shows/movies, reading, making comics, swimming, walking for exercise, etc.

This alone probably isn't why I tend to get along better with girls though. The reason is because I'm very expressive of my emotions and like to give people compliments, and among-st other guys this tends to come off as "gay."

Close guy friends also tend to insult each other a lot, and though I can appreciate it in moderation, in my opinion if excessive it can get old and FAST. And the majority of my male friends can't go without saying something like, "Hey what took you so long you fucking cock sucking son of a bitch" when seeing each other. Some may find it genuine and lovely among-st bros, but I was never a fan.

And as such... I get along better with girls, and my closest friends are almost all girls. We tease each other once in a while, but we can also conversate normally and compliment each other as well. Guys often seem to have like an 80% balance of just pure insulting, which turns me off.

Is this a bad thing though?

I am convinced, that people love sh*t and junk!
What exactly do I mean?

Well, here's what made me draw this conclusion:

- People loving drama and stress in life. Some argue, that fights and arguments are essential to a relationship. I however compare this to workplace accidents.

- Also people feeding on social media and getting depressed by looking at others. Their lives are so much better somehow than their own, right? Right?

- Why put work and effort in reaching your goals when complaining about it repeatedly is much easier?

- Who cares about privacy when you can have convenience in life? They got nothing to hide anyway. They're on social media after all. Everybody can stalk them all they want. Google, Facebook and all other spying agencies know more about you than you yourself do.

- More of a personal preference but regarding privacy and conveniences (outside of social media that is) people prefer Google Chrome over Firefox. People prefer Google over DuckDuckGo. People prefer WhatsApp/Skype over Signal. VPN? What are you talking about you paranoid nerd?

- This one's also a personal preference but paying twice for a product, that is likely to be replaced in the next year (Apple inc. products anyone?) and performs similar to it's half-priced competitors when you're nearing bankruptcy?

- I won't go into religion any deeper than just going to state, that I can't grasp how one would enjoy living in fear, unquestionable rules and constant judgment of an entity, that has not yet been confirmed at the price of your own freedom and individuality.

- And my personal favorite: People LOVE to feed on the propaganda given to us by the media, that is under control of the government. TV, news, radiostations... All of them broadcast cherrypicked fragments of information processed in such a way, that there is only one perspective to look at. Mostly bad news.
