So there's this guy that's been giving me mixed signals. I'm quite confused.
He mentioned that he has never been in a real relationship before. He's only ever had flings and hookups and stuff.
My friend (until recently) has also only ever hooked up with people. I was talking to her about this guy and she says that people like herself (and him) are not trustworthy. She says they aren't willing to commit even if they really like someone. She thinks he truly is interested in me but he just doesn't know what he wants. Therefore if a relationship is something I want, I should break it off because I won't get that from him.
Is she correct? Is this an absolute truth? If not, about how often is this true?

It seems like a rather large chunk of discrimination, violence, and especially wars happen due to differences in spiritual beliefs. The Crusades, The Witch Trials, The Holocaust, and many other catastrophes were all because of religion.

Even in modern day to day life, differences in spirituality cause a great barrier between people that often leads to arguments, bullying, and discrimination. I've seen countless contradictions about religious tolerance coming from both sides and I've seen a number of topics on this website about religious intolerance.

So that leaves us with the simple question, what promotes more intolerance?

Personally, I think it comes down to agnostics. Whether you're religious or not, if you believe you KNOW the absolute truth then there will never be room for open mindedness. This is where I feel Christianity (and possibly other religions) does more harm than good. Most Christians are taught to believe that their version of God and the universe is the absolute truth and there's no room for any other points of view or lifestyles. If it doesn't agree with what's in their book, it's wrong and evil. Even the Bible itself promotes blind obedience over reasoning and compassion. (Genesis 22:1-19) Same goes for atheists who claim science has proven God simply cannot exist and therefore all religious people are morons.

FYI, I'm only referencing Christianity so much because I don't know all that much about the history or beliefs of other religions.
