I’ve been with my boyfriend around 9 months now. We’ve had our problems, but he’s been depressed and suicidal for a few months now.
Recently, shit has hit the fan.
-he cut me, his best friends, and his parents out from his life
-he’s been abusing weed and alcohol
-one day he says he loves me and wants to work on us the next he says he doesn’t know what he wants
-he couldn’t sleep for about a week
-he dyed his hair and chopped most of it
-i found out he’s been cheating

the last is the most alarming, because there was a time when some guy tried to come in on me and he thought I️ would cheat on him because this guy is “better” and he cried. This is someone that hates cheating.

but his brother says he all of a sudden isn’t suicidal anymore since this past Sunday (when the girl called me from his phone)

I️ normally would never have any remorse for a cheater but I’m concerned this is happening because of depression

I met this man at work. He's about 40 years old, but he acts and seems younger in a lot of ways. He has depression, and told me that he tried to kill himself about 8 months ago. We met almost 2 years ago, and he tried to make a move on me back then and I told him I wasn't interested but could be his friend. I thought it would be a casual work friendship, where we'd catch up sometimes over coffee or lunch. But he always invites me to events, and when I say no or don't reply, he texts me something like "if I'm bothering you and you want me to go away, just say so." Or, yesterday, he texted me that he "wasn't doing great and needed someone to talk to", which puts me in a weird position because I can't say no to someone who has been suicidal in the past. This followed an invite to a concert last week that I forgot to reply to. He also gives me gifts and things, and always says "this is for the time you share with me." His dad has cancer and I don't think he has many friends outside of me, so it kind of places a burden on my shoulders. My mom seemed to think he was being very manipulative but part of me thinks that I'm being cruel to someone with a mental illness.

Do you think so? If yes, what should I do? If no, do you think I'm being a bad friend?
