Search Results: overreacting to a situation

Basically I got into contact with a female friend from college and we started chatting for a bit. One of the first things she says to me is "Yes I am going to the US!! Pittsburgh late August and looking at tickets for NYC late July atm" (I have a place there and I am pretty sure she knows that). However, I won't be in the city when she wants to come and so she says "what are your plans for the summer? I might go Pittsburgh instead of NYC since I know people and the place so it would feel more safe" After, I responded "That's great! Have a great holiday there, maybe one day I can show you around NYC. :)" And then I proceeded to tell her my summer plans. The issue i have is she hasn't responded to my messages in two days and I have no idea why. I have read my messages over and it doesn't seem weird at all. In fact, I am saying what any good friend would say so it doesn't make sense to me and I know she likes me, but I dont know if its platonic or romantically.

She responds enthusiastically but once a day on whatsapp, but this time its been longer.

Be aware that She is from Canada and I am in Florida, but I go NYC quite a lot.

My name is Kevin, I work with this woman named Eva. Me and Eva talk and we have a lot of fun together, but we’re not friends outside of work.

Eva had a birthday party whom she invited me and other co-workers to her house. Eva wanted to set me up with her friend Lucy, who had just got divorced. I told Eva it’s not a good idea for me to date right now. I’m in a bad financial situation, living with parents, and dealing with mental health issues.

Eva said I should still give it a try, and maybe her friend might accept me with my problems. I thought Eva maybe right, so I gave it a try. I went over and talked to Lucy, got her number, went on a date the following week. We had a good time together, talked, laughed, and made out. She seemed like she was really into me. We texted a little bit after, then she went ghost. I didn’t really care and dated another girl right after. Who I felt was a better match for me. So it wasn’t a big deal!

A couple weeks later, Eva told me the reason why Lucy went ghost. Eva said she just talked to Lucy and she is not over her ex husband... and it has nothing to do with me.

Just yesterday a trusted family friend named Sarah (close friend of my aunt), who works in the same building. Called me to warn me about Eva. by the way Eva doesn’t know my connection to Sarah. So apparently Eva was talking behind my back to Sarah and other coworkers.

Eva is telling everyone that Lucy didn’t want to date me because I’m living with parents, immature, and illiterate. Eva also said “Kevin has no future with any girl out there. He won’t ever make enough money to give a woman what she wants”. Eva also explained to Sarah that Lucy wants a guy with money who can give her and her kids a good life. I feel this is very shady two-faced behaviour. Am I overreacting when I say “I fucking hate Eva” and avoid her?
