So, ROTC is pissing me off beyond belief, and I am considering leaving either next semester or next year.

1) Over the summer I spent $600 dollars to go to Leadership Academy and learn how to be a leader and improve our battalion. I spent a week in the desert with Marine DI's chewing out our asses with 672 other cadets, expecting to come back to RO and have a position of leadership in the battalion. However I get back to school to find out that I am to remain in the same position I have been in for the past two years as guide.

2) Horrible communication skills through the battalion. I was told by Chief that if I wanted to remain on Marksmanship Team I would have to be in 7th period, as well has needing everyone on the team to be in 7th period RO. So I have been telling everyone this who is one the team and wants to be on the team, as well as COMPLETELY redoing my personal schedule with the school councilor just to be able to maintain the team. Only to get told on Thursday that it ISN'T necessary to have 7th period to be on the team anymore.

3) This isn't so much an insult to be personally or a failure at anything, but merely an annoyance. The position of CO next year is guaranteed to be given to cadet Sturgeon, a guy who I have never gotten along with and cannot take orders from.

4) If I were to stay in ROTC and apply for the scholarship from it, I would be required to go into the military. Which is a career path I currently have no interest into going in to.

However it is a good program that has taught me a lot and the colleges really like to see students who have been in it even if that student did not receive the scholarship. So what do you guys think? Should I stay in or quit as soon as I can?

What I mean is that if you have friends in your life that doesn't do anything but act as anchor, would you keep in them in your life. Majority of my friends used to be a big influence in what made me happy. Now they are just becoming an annoyance, what I mean is my best friend flirts with my girlfriend all the time, my other friend is somewhat of a slut, I don't judge but then she complains that how she can't get a boyfriend. My girlfriend is sweet and we have been dating for a long time, just I can't always be the affectionate always wanting to spend time with her guy I was in the beginning of the relationship. I have too much issues on my shoulders as it is and I'm getting stressed the f*** out. Advice or opinions?
