So, I just had a very long debate about what makes women seem unapproachable versus what makes them seem approachable. It got me thinking about a situation I was recently in.

Guys, (girls can give opinions as well if they'd like) if you see a girl you find to be attractive while out, does her race make you (1) either perceive her to be more or less approachable or (2) make you hesitant to approach her because of the fear of backlash from your circle of friends?

To extend the question a bit, say you hung out with a girl of a different race and you both expressed your interest in one another but neither of you had ever dated "outside of your race" before, would the racial difference make you stop pursuing her even if you did have feelings for her? I was just in a situation like this and I am questioning why the guy suddenly stopped pursuing me. He also began dating a female who was the same ethnicity as him, so I wondered if he felt more comfortable with her.

Would this be typical for a guy to do? How constrained do guys typically feel by societal norms when it comes to girls they are into?

I know attraction is the ultimate factor so I don't need to hear who you "just aren't attracted to". I really want to know if you have seen a girl of a different race that you wanted to approach...how much did her race play a role in what you ultimately decided to do as well as in your reservations?

The question says it all.

What about if his (or her) parents are okay with it but you can't tell your parents because you know they won't be (especially if they're immigrants and want you to retain your culture)?
