In the first 4 years of my life, I was a happy kid. My parents always paid attention to me and we would spend almost all our time together. I never felt lonely despite being an only child.

My sister was born on the day before Christmas Eve 2005. Due to this, we didn't get to celebrate Christmas that year. I remember that I got lots of Christmas presents in 2004. But what about 2005? Well, I got nothing.

Ever since my sister was born, I've never really had my parents' attention. I honestly felt like an outcast in my family because my parents barely acknowledged my existence.

One time when I was 8, I asked my mother to play Monopoly with me. We started playing but my sister comes into my room a few minutes later and asks our mom to play dolls with her. Mom told me that we'll finish that round later and went to my sister's room to play dolls with her.

Second was when I was 11 and playing Super Smash Bros with my mom. My sister also wanted to play. She wasn't really good at the game, but that wasn't the biggest issue. The problem was she would start crying every time she lost so we had to let her win every time. Playing with her wasn't fun at all so I didn't want to play with her. But our mother wanted to so I was alone again.

I've hardly ever got any alone time with my mom because my sister would always come in. If I ever got to spend time with my mom, it was after my sister went to bed. At that point, I'd be too tired to do anything.

Every time it was my sister's birthday, our parents would give her $400. But I was lucky if I even got $100 for my birthday. When it was Christmas, she would always get more presents and I really think it's unfair.

My sister is the reason I was neglected. Ever since she was born, my life has been nothing but misery. Despite that, my sister is actually really nice to me and will often want to spend time with me (like watching a movie or playing video games together), but I still feel like she ruined my childhood.

Am I a bad person?

Basically, I got the idea from one of my friends who was pranked by his girlfriend. She tricked him into thinking he was really getting a PS5 by using an Instagram filter. I thought maybe it would be funny to do this prank on my sister, except that I'm doing it with a real PlayStation.

It was my sister's 15th birthday a few days ago. I got her a birthday present. It was a PlayStation 5. I wished her a happy birthday and gave it to her. It was actually the first time I got her something and she was really happy. She opened it and started talking about all the cool games she's going to play.

When she opened the box, however, she started freaking out because there was no PlayStation inside. I secretly took it out and replaced it with a 10 lb dumbbell weight. She asked me where the actual PS5 was but I couldn't help but laugh. I told her that she wasn't getting anything and that it was a prank.

She started crying and told me: "Thank you for ruining my birthday! I thought you cared about me, but I guess you don't." She then kicked the box and ran off crying to her room.

Was it really that bad a prank? Did I go too far? Should I apologize?
