Nelson is 17 and his friend Quan is 18. Sometimes Nelson goes to church with Quan and his mother Maria. Maria ( Quan's mother) is a devoted Christian woman and single mother. She had a few abortions, dated the wrong guys but she turned her life around and went to college to be a nurse. When she first met Nelson, he bought cookies and was very nice and polite. She thought Nelson was a great kid and started taking him to church, teaching him about God and talking with his parents about going to church. Nelson loved going to church and often had fun with the little kids, helped with setting up church, helped clean, cook and other things for the church. Maria started telling Nelson about how God hates gays, gays are evil, she hates gays, how they are all going to hell and God will send you to burn if you are gay. There was also a video shown on how gays were disgusting and going to hell. Nelson's eyes swelled up with tears and Maria asked Nelson what was wrong Nelson just started to snivel up, he stood up and sprinted to the bathroom. He cried and whimpered for 6 minutes, came out and said he wanted to go home.

Ok so there are 2 people I have in mind at the moment. One is a girl who I was fairly close to last year and who I sat with in class and at lunch but this year we're not as close. I don't think she like the people I hang out with in class and sometimes I worry she hates me but she told me she doesn't hate the guy I thought she did who she ships me with. I only really talk to her now about a class or her cat and we don't have lunch together. We have another friend who I still keep in contact w though from last year and we're all taking a practice test on the same day. Would it be weird to ask her if she wants to hang out after if we go eat or something? If I invite our friend?

Also there's another girl who we were never officially friends but she goes to my church youth which I sometimes go to and when I first met her and the other girls at my church last year they were very welcoming and invited me to their personal Christmas party. I still talk to them but I don't o to youth as much. Me and her are in two classes this year and we've had some casual text conversations and in life conversations. I did text her that if she ever wanted to volunteer with me she was welcome after a conversation about it once and she didn't respond but I never asked specifically if she wanted to. Also I talked about other stuff at the end of the text which was more convo ending. Would it be weird to ask her if she wants to hang out sometime?
