I'm publishing an e-book and I've come to realise that I have no clue how to structure the text. When working on novels, larger blocks with indented paragraphs works because it fits onto the page, but with an e-book there is less text per page and so even small paragraphs can turn into a full page of block text.

I'm torn between two ideas and would appreciate suggestions from those of you who either read e-books (via a kindle or other device) or have published similar books yourself.

Idea 1 - Should I divide the text up in a more traditional manner, regardless of how it will appear on the device's screen i. e. keep all related content within a single paragraph and only separate that paragraph into smaller chunks by taking a new line and adding an indent.

Idea 2 - Should I simple divide the text up so that there are only a few sentences per paragraph in order to break the text up for the reader. On their screen, these sentences would take up maybe 1/3 - 1/2 of the screen, but would then be separated by a line in order to avoid big walls of text across the entire screen.

My thoughts are that the 2nd option would work better because if the reader finds the blocks of text a bit tedious, they will think less of the book and may stop reading before the end.

My ex and I broke up 3 years ago, and it was an incredibly difficult break up according to my friends.
Anyway, last year I suffered a severe head injury and suffered massive memory loss, seizures, and massive headaches for months. The memory loss still remains. I don't remember practically anything before the injury.
But I ran into my ex, now married, and I didn't recognize her. But she bitched me out for something I did during the break up. But I had no clue what she was talking about. She slowly understood that I didn't know her or the situation and my friend explained my injuries.
She cried and asked if I remembered her at all, and I didn't. She seemed familiar, but I didn't remember anything. She was upset that I wouldn't remember the good times we had, and my friend ushered me away because she was getting too upset.
My friend says I'm fortunate to not remember her. But should I feel bad for how she felt or anything?
