Search Results: romantic love exist

If you believe in love, that's great and all, but I don't really want you to leave an answer. What I am really wondering is if there are any of you who do not believe that true/pure love exists. (I'm referring to romantic love.)

As someone I know once said, "Finding a [true love] is pointless. Chances are, he or she doesn't even exist. What exists is something far off, with little added bonuses but mainly added flaws. You settle, but your mind tells you otherwise. Suddenly, those things you didn't care much about before, you love. And those things you hated, you're willing to deal with."

There are so many ways to use the word love. There exists brotherly love, platonic love, love of family and love between comrades. There is also love between ... well "lovers" (amore/romantic love and sexual love/lust). Then people say that they love something: think country, state, color, book, etc. or some activity: skiing, traveling, martial arts etc.

Disregarding what people define as love, because I believe to each person there belongs a different definition, do you think its over use in society cheapens the word? Do you think it is even overused or that each use is appropriate in context? Do you think even if you love someone that you should use it sparingly and just show it in actions so that when you do use the word it is an action unto itself? Have you ever caught yourself using the word love and either not meaning it or using it to an express an emotion other than love itself (i.e. enjoyment)?

All of these questions lead to one main question: when you hear the word "love" what response does it trigger in you, and do you think it would trigger a different response if its use was more specific/less frequent?
