We broke up mutually. Apparently he still cares about me (let's assume that's true).

I told him to leave me alone (nicely) while I get over him 100% so we can be friends later.

How would you feel guys?

The ex and I broke up ages ago. A few months ago he tried to hit me up for sex. I nicely turned him down. He's been acting like an awkward, avoidant weirdo any time we see each other at mutual friends' things despite my attempts to remain friendly (tried to leave the impression that I didn't think he was a jerk for bringing it up). Lots of hot/cold. Sometimes he'll greet me, all friendly, and other times it's like I bite, so he avoids. I'm kind of tired of this awkward bs floating around at parties. He'll be around me, but just will not say much of anything to me. But he'll say goodbye. It's just strange. I do my best to enjoy myself at these things, but it's kinda womp womp. :/

No idea if he still likes me or feels guilty for breaking up, but for god's sake, it's been 2.5 years. I thought we'd gotten past that "awkward seeing your ex for the first time" bit almost a year ago. I'm not trying to be BFFs, but it would be nice if he would just to act normal when we do see each other at parties. Any time I find out he's going to be there, it's kinda blegh.

I've been told by several guy friends just to talk to him and ask wtf is going on just to get things cleared up.

Tried to "hang out" in order to talk about it face to face but got a lot of runaround.

Don't really want to text because it's too easy to evade and ignore.

I guess I could try calling, but calls are easy to ignore and I don't care for addressing things like this via the phone.

Or should I just say forget it and just let this crap continue and do my best to ignore it?
