I have been struggling with a lot of depression lately. I am 27 (turning 28 this year) and never had a real girlfriend before.

Back in June 2020, I met this girl on a coding forum. We really hit it off and had an online thing going for 5 months. I finally met her in person in November of 2020, where she discovered I wasn't her type. I was heartbroken.

She never had a male friend before she met me. She was a devout Catholic girl that was sheltered and homeschooled her entire life in the farmlands of rural Illinois along with 6 other siblings. She never had a boyfriend before, never kissed, and was a virgin. She was exactly the girl I was looking for, because I sought a girl without a romantic past, and she was perfect.

I was very heartbroken when she broke up with me. I didn't really count her as a real girlfriend because what we had was almost all online and she dumped me when we met in person for the first time.

Anyways, she met some other guy whom she became serious with back in early 2020. She was engaged to him a few months later, and they are expected to be married on the 22nd this month. I have been struggling about it, especially because her wedding day is approaching. This guy will get to be her first everything... her first love, the first guy to see her naked, the first guy to take her virginity, and everything!

I have been feeling incredibly heartbroken, inept, and lonely for a very long time.

My background:
I am 27 years old, turning 28 later this year. I hardly have any friends, and I have never had a real girlfriend, especially nothing long-term or serious. I have had sex only one time 7 years ago during a weekend fling, but nothing progressed from that. I haven't touched a girl since.

I am a software developer, and I make a very comfortable, decent income. I have my own apartment in the city, and I own 2 cars and a very large RV. Career-wise and financially, I am doing well right now.

Sadly, women hardly ever notice me. I am suspecting my short height of 5 feet 6 inches is the culprit. I am average in looks at best.

I can understand me being in this situation if I was asexual or aromatic, but I am the exact opposite! I have always wanted a girlfriend, wife, and kids of my own.

Yes, I have high standards, but with that aside, I haven't managed to attract ANY woman.

I feel extremely depressed, especially seeing most of those I have known growing up getting married, having kids, and/or both. The l cast majority of my peers I have known are married, yet I haven't had my first real girlfriend. I feel inadequate and almost subhuman.

I watched the movie "Turning Red" from Disney's Pixar and I loved it! It's a super emotional movie and also very funny. Also as a Chinese-American I related to the cultural elements of the story (although I don't relate to the teenage girl stuff). But aside from the movie being emotional and entertaining I also think the mom character is super cute!
