I want to take dating seriously. I don't want to do something to just realise it was all a mistake midway down the line and decide to end things. I made that mistake with one of my best friends when we went out for 1 year before I realised we weren't that good a fit and we were just having fun but not really in love.

So now this girl, I think there's some mutual attraction, but I don't know if it's love or just something else?
1. She's not the attractive type, but when i'm with her I think she's pretty. Maybe it's infatuation.
2. I get aroused when we're in physical contact, and I think of her in a sexual way too. So that's lust there.
3. I like going out with her, but I also enjoy going out with anyone else of my friends, so I don't know if I'm just lonely.
4. I get flushed with excitement when I ask her out, and when I'm planning what to do, but I might just be nervous, stressed or excited?
5. I really enjoy her company, but maybe I just like having fun together?

I have a lot of doubts. And I wonder if what we're feeling is not really true attraction, but just... having fun and doing unfamiliar things together? Is this not love? Is this part of love? Or is this something that leads to love?

Here's my situation.
I have this crush. Due to circumstances we will be a part of each others lives for most of the foreseeable future. I assume there's a sexual attraction because I actually had the opportunity to sleep with her several months ago (I had to much to drink so it didn't happen. But I did happen to wake up next to her in the morning). Due to life circumstances I'm in in pretty big rut and wouldn't exactly consider myself boyfriend material.
BUT... I don't plan on being like this for long. I'm seeking treatment for mental and physical health issues and I WILL be better in a couple of years.
My question is, if you had a friend you witnessed struggling then managed to pull himself together would you be willing to see him in a new light?
