6 weeks ago since the break up, saying he needed space and time but he would come back for me. 2 weeks later his best friend met up with me telling me not to let go, just give him space and he had never seen him happier with anyone. I have just left said ex alone / No Contact or minimum contact and enjoyed my life (no begging or nothing). But he never reached out apart from when I had an exam or work (friendly not saying sorry and cutting the convo short)
I spoke to him today after reading advice online about how to tackle situations just saying i respected his decision and that i enjoyed the little time we did have together. He said he was happy i felt that way. Then I asked why he had left me hanging and left the door open - it was confusing and mean!
To this replied "he thought he just needed space at the time, he didn't know how he would feel" aka - it is what I feared and he is happy with his decision. He however also put he didn't update me because it was "killing him to say, because i still had something that way, but shouldn't have kept you in the dark" so doesn't want to completly rule it out. also saying "he would always care about me" and "wasn't going to leave it like this forever" Feel like I am a backup option.
Back to the question at hand. I stayed cool during conversation and have suggested we meet up for a coffee but now not sure if that is a bad move.
Should i change my number and cut him out. Show him he has fucked up and doesn't deserve to know me (scared he won't care if I do anyway / that i can't go through with it) or go to the coffee and show him what he has missed out on (but then also kindof saying he doesn't need to apologise / can have me even by being selfish)

We ended sort of mutual, mostly him leaving me though. Anyway we were still friends but it hurts way too much. I wrote this letter, let me know what you guys think. He has a girl he is almost in a relationship with.

I don't think I can be friends. At least not right now, and probably not for a while. I guess I just have too many issues and not enough experience with heartache. I love you and I hate that I'm writing it in an e-mail, but I already lost my chance to properly tell you in person. I'm sorry I keep adding this extra drama to your life, I just have a hard time letting you go which is why I need to cut you out for a while. I want you to be happy and I feel like I am not benefiting anyone when I send you all these texts about how sad I am. It isn't helping me and it isn't helping you. I will be fine, it's just another lemon in life. I'm still glad I've gotten to be close to you. Thank you for everything and for being there. I'm not saying this is the last time I'm going to talk to you, but I need to be away for a long while. Not just a while because I have found that a while isn't very long for me. You looked really happy in your picture hiking with *****, I hope you both treat each other well.

Should I send it? I already blocked and deleting him from everything. So I will be e-mailing this to him. I am ready to move on, but I don't think I can without cutting him out for a while. Thanks.
