I have a crush on this guy in college but he has a girlfriend. I swallowed my feelings for him after I found out he was seeing someone and became his friend instead. His girlfriend is very uncomfortable with our friendship. She doesn't really have time to see him because she is a nursing student so I probably see him more than she does. We go on walks, workout together, and have really intimate and personal talks. I think he tells me things that he does not tell her. I feel that we are very close and it feels almost platonic. I enjoy our friendship and I respect their relationship.

I drunk texted him one night. Nothing crazy. I basically just said I was bored and wanted to talk to someone. I also warned him that I was drunk. I had been wanting him to talk to me more outside of school and so I guess that is why I messaged him. He told his girlfriend about it and she accused me of trying to steal him from her. I then informed her that I wouldn't become her friend if I wanted to steal him. She then said that maybe I'm the type of person that will become friends with the girlfriend to find out her weaknesses. I am not that kind of person. I am very content with being friends with both of these individuals.

I guess my question is... should I continue this friendship or walk away from the drama? I will be throwing away a great two year friendship.

If I walk away then the plan is to start hanging out with him less. When he asks where I went then I will tell him that our friendship was making his girlfriend uncomfortable.
