I had a crush on a guy for 2 years and I tried to see the good in him every time he was being an absolute ass and a jerk to me. I was fine with him not liking me. I never acted upon my feelings

I invited him to my 30th and of course he didn't want to come so he clicked no, even though I went to his 30th and bought him a very expensive watch- which he sold and got money off. Which is fair enough. It's his gift, he could do what he wanted with it.

Anyway, he bought me a gift and upon him handing it to me, I politely said "sorry, but in our culture whenever someone didn't attend my birthday celebration, I cannot accept the present". He looked shocked and insulted.

I feel bad but considering all those times he treated me like garbage, was this the right thing to do?

Some background info:

-We used to have a great time together, have never laughed as hard before in my life than when I was with her.
-She was considerate of me, never missed a birthday and always got great gifts.

-It's like she loves me but at the same time was very jealous of me. Like when I accomplish something she would say she is happy for me but her face would say otherwise and she would create a stupid argument over something.
-She would try to copy my makeup and such.
-She would be very protective of me or nice to me when with people, however when we were alone she would try to bring me down.
-She would criticize me. Like my every move.
-She would never apologize.
-She would always comprare herself to me, grades, boyfriends, life in general (who has got it better type of stuff)

We met in college and stayed friends 2 years after. Last year I broke it off because I have had enough with her criticism and using me, hitting me up only when she needs me.

But I still miss the good times we spent together. It is like we were sisters, can't go without arguing but still enjoying each other's company.

Should I call her?
